Smarty had an outstanding start to his show career. Best Baby Puppy in Show at Liverpool & District All Breeds Kennel Club,
Baby Puppy in Show at the Labrador Retriever Club of NSW. Best Baby Puppy in Show at the ACT Gundog Society.
Three Baby Puppy in Group Awards including the Dogs NSW Spring Fair.
He  has 13 Class in Show Awards to his credit. He gained his 1st Best in Group Award at Albion Park Kennel Club on 3rd June 2009.
He became an Australian Champion in August 09. In October 09 He was RU BIS at the Labrador Club of NSW Championship Show
